Re-Elect Cleve Mortelliti

Posted by Cleve Mortelliti On May - 12 - 2014 Comments Off on Re-Elect Cleve Mortelliti

My name is Cleve Mortelliti and I am the Councillor for Ward 1 in the Township of King. I love this Township. King City has been my home since 1972. From 2004 to 2006 I had the privilege to work as an Engineering Administrator for the Township of King. But my overriding desire to make a real difference and to have a more positive, impactful influence on the shape and form of the development wave that is coming to King, led me to leave my employment with the Township and declare my candidacy for Councillor of Ward 1 (King City, Snowball, Kettleby). At approximately 10:00pm on November 13th, 2006 I was truly thrilled to learn that the residents and ratepayers of Ward 1 had bestowed their trust in me to serve as their councillor for the next 4 years . In 2010 I had decided to run for re-election, and on September 29th, 2010 I learned that I had been re-elected by acclamation. I have since been, and continue to be honoured to represent you, and to be Your Voice in King.  Once again I am asking for your support to permit me the honour of representing you for another 4 years.

In my election flyer of 2006 I wrote the following:

“Sanitary servicing clears the way for unprecedented growth in King City. It took over 150 years for this village to reach a population of 5,000; now, with sanitary servicing, we will see the doubling of population within 6-8 years.   This will have a very real impact not only on King City, but on Snowball and surrounding rural areas as well.  As the development of King City begins applications will be submitted in high volume. This is likely to overwhelm existing Township resources, negatively impacting the Township’s ability to effectively administer quality control while continuing to service the community.”

I believe my assessment of 2006 remains true today.  Growth and development continue to dominate and alter the landscape and put significant strain on the Townships limited resources and  will continue to do so for the next 10 years or more.

Election Day is scheduled for Monday October 27th, 2014.  Please check back here for periodic updates to my website and presentation  of my goals for the 2014-2018 term of council.

Sincerely,

Cleve Mortelliti

“I don’t think you’d have a willing host anywhere. I just don’t see that happening in the Greater Toronto Area. That doesn’t mean you don’t PROCESS and understand THE APPLICATIONS. (?) I happen to think there’s a tremendous need and I also think that we can site it in a place somewhere in these municipalities, which will not affect anyone,” Black said. “I happen to believe that the effect of the air emissions is minimal.” (!)

I was notified by the clerk unofficially on Friday September 1oth, that I have been acclaimed to council. This was subsequently made official on Monday September 13th at 4:00pm and reported in the King Sentinel and King Weekly on Wednesday September 15th.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the residents and ratepayers of Ward 1 for the confidence they have expressed in me, and to especially thank you all for your kind words and expression of thanks.

I realize that acclamation does not mean everyone is happy with my work as councillor, so with that in mind I will continue to take a balanced approach in order to address as many interests as possible, with the overall welfare of King Township in mind.

As I have said previously, it has not been an easy job this past 4 years. A number of things that transpired over this term have further reinforced my contention that we need a change toward leadership that demonstrates a more equitable and fair treatment to all the residents of King with a paramount interest in working together to unite our Township, instead of perpetuating divisions. We have a lot of work to do in that regard.

I personally will be disappointed to not see my name on the ballot as a result of this acclamation. I like to be able to cast a vote for my candidate, as i am sure do all of you. It was also a lot of fun last time to see my name on the ballot and a real thrill to win.

But I have been told that I should be proud of this. That acclamation in this Township, in this Ward specifically, is an accomplishment an and indication “that you’re doing a good job” as it was put to me.

So I am going to enjoy this for a while, give myself a little pat on the back, and get ready for term number 2.

I do however, intend to put my signs up in a few select locations with a big “Thank You” sticker over the re-elect portion of the sign, and to help remind you that there is still a Mayoral race on this Ward and you absolutely must

or at any of the advanced polling locations (Click here for more info).

Once again.

Thank you King! Stay tuned thru 2014, and stay engaged. Our home needs your attention.

Sincerely,

Cleve Mortelliti

As the appointed Councillor to the King Environmental Advisory Committee, (KEAC)  it is my great pleasure to inform you of a very important initiative that is being undertaken to educate local businesses and residents of the opportunities available for implementing green energy projects in your homes and businesses.

The seminar is to be held on January 28, 2010 at the King City Arena on Doctors Lane in King City starting at 6:30pm. If you’ve been toying with the idea of adding solar panels to your roof or a small windmill in your back yard, this is the perfect chance for you to get some solid information from individuals who have gone thru the process, and from some green energy companies that will be in attendance.

Also, hats off to the hard work of our volunteer KEAC members,  J.R. Leo, Bruce Craig, Susan Beharriell, Ed Tsang, Harvey Tenenbaum, Cinzia Scalabrini, and Hans Martin, and to our King Township Staff Liaison Jennifer Best who have been working diligently for months to bring this informative event to our community.

See the flyer (below) for details and hope to see you there!
