- May- June 2007 – EDAC discusses “Power Energy Issues and Opportunities” of hosting a Gas Fired Peaker Plant in King.
- July-November 2007 – a series of staff reports advance this notion and staff is directed to create an online survey to gauge public reaction to the idea of hosting a peaker plant.
- January – April 2008 – Reaction – NOT Good.
- April 14, 2008 – Mortelliti and Underhill put forward Motion to Oppose Peaker Plant
- April 23 – Mortelliti responds to King Sentinel Editorial re: his motion to reject the Peaker Plant
- April 28, 2008 – Motion to Oppose Peaker Plant – defeated by 4 to 3 vote
- April 28, 2008 – Town of Georgina PASSES motion to oppose Peaker Plant
- May to June 2008 – Remainder of Northern York Region Municipalities pass motions to oppose Peaker Plant
- June 2008 – King the only Municipality to NOT pass a motion to oppose
- July 2008 – Black brings forward Motion to “oppose all applications for a Peaker Plant”
- August 2008 – Black is quoted in NRU as saying:
“I don’t think you’d have a willing host anywhere. I just don’t see that happening in the Greater Toronto Area. That doesn’t mean you don’t PROCESS and understand THE APPLICATIONS. (?) I happen to think there’s a tremendous need and I also think that we can site it in a place somewhere in these municipalities, which will not affect anyone,” Black said. “I happen to believe that the effect of the air emissions is minimal.” (!)

- December 2008 – OPA Awards Peaker Plant to Pristine Power to site Plant in Holland Marsh (King Township).
- May 2009, The Mayor is rumoured in the Auroran to be the Liberal Candidate for Aurora-Newmarket – Black denies
- June 2009 - 9.44 Million Dollar Federal Provincial Grant comes to King to fund Schomberg Arena
- June 2009 – Federal Liberals gaining in polls – threaten to call election in Summer 2009.
- August 2009 – Black is confirmed as the Liberal Candidate.
- August 2009 – Federal Liberals Threaten to Trigger Election with Non-Confidence Vote
- September 18, 2009 – Opposition Parties do not support Liberal non-confidence vote in Parliament
- October/November – Liberal Party loses ground in Polls
- November/December 2009 - Black quits Liberal nomination -“King Sentinel” supports decision to run for reelection in King
- January 2010 – Black reverses position on Interim Control by-law, staff position follows suit. Council enacts Interim Control By-Law.
- July/August 2010 - Province Exempts Peaker from the Planning Act – First Time EVER.
